A group of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Parents and Leaders carried out some great work in the woods completing 112 metres of boardwalk around the pond at the Ainsdale National Nature Reserve. The highlight of the weekend took place on Sunday afternoon when we were rewarded with a flyover from the police helicopter - we all waved and were still waving 10 minutes later as it continued to circle above us. It was only some time later that we learnt a member of the public had reported to the police that they heard gunfire whilst jogging through the woods. The police responded by closing the coast road, calling in the force helicopter and sending in not one but two armed response vehicles. After some head scratching it was established that the 'gunfire' was in fact our very busy hammering as we made more and more of the boardwalk and exceeded our 100 metre target. A very well done to everyone whatever you role - carrying timber, banging in nails, making sandwiches and even tending to the many many blisters that were suffered.
Check back soon for some photos of our hard work.
